Cognitive philosophy is a new area of contemporary philosophy, the main content of which is philosophical investigation of cognitive science. Philosophy of cognitive science study the process of cognition from the perspectives of cognitive psychology, artificial intelligence, brain science, system science, philosophy of mind, linguistics and cultural anthropology etc., so that causes cognitive turn and human aspects of the philosophy of science. Our research will focuse on the integration of scientism and humanism in the spiritual level, the involving philosophical foundation and problems of cognition, the mechanism and rules of cognition, the modes and forms of representation, the cognitive consistency and the reasoning model etc.
As a movement, analytic philosophy carries with itself a large variety of methods and doctrines. What unifies this movement is the spirit of the respect for the rationality, the suspicion of dogmatic assumption, and the pursuit of argumentative rigour and clarity on the model of the natural science. The dominant of analytic philosophy is the analysis of the Anglo-American philosophy. The contemporary analysis of Anglo-American philosophy examines the nature, task and scope of analytic philosophy, and stresses on applying a wide range of methods such as logic analysis, language analysis and mind analysis. The center mostly focus on the development of the contemporary analytic philosophy, involving the realm of problems such as contextualism, semantics, theory of truth, theory of meaning, theory of reference and so on.
The research on philosophy of logic is promoted by the development of modern logic, and it is closely related with the interaction among mathematics foundation research, modern logic and modern philosophy. Philosophy of logic is what rethinks philosophically on logic. From the perspectives of epistemology and ontology, the research on philosophy of logic involves three aspects:(1)philosophical analyses on logic, such as the nature of logic, the demarcation between logic and non-logic, the relation among logic and other disciplines, etc;(2)philosophical answers to problems from various logical systems, such as implication and inference, validity, paradox, etc.(3)elaborate analyses on basic concepts of logic and philosophy, such as names and descriptions, meaning, reference and truth, etc.
